Statnett is currently working to construct the next-generation national power grid. An important step towards this goal is to increase the capacity of the power line grid and the power stations by upgrading from today’s 300 kilovolts to 420 kilovolts.
This voltage upgrade will increase the capacity in the power line grid and, in turn, help improve security of supply and secure interconnectors to Europe. It will also facilitate production of additional renewable energy, which will help Norway and Europe achieve their climate targets.
What’s happening at the Hylen substation:
Upgrade to a 420 kilovolt switching installation, which will connect the power lines between Sauda and Saurdal.
The technical installation will be built as a compact substation.
