Entry area to the substation

The Skjomen switching substation was built in 1973, in connection with the Skjomen Power Plant owned by Statkraft. It has reached the end of its technical service life and therefore requires renovation.

The existing switching substation is a 132 kV SF6 plant (compressed gas-insulated plant) built into the mountain and has three bays for Ofoten, Narvik and Ballangen, respectively, and three bays for Statkraft’s power plants in the mountains. The substation does not have a transformer.

Statnett plans to build a new indoor SF6 plant right at the entrance of the existing substation.

Statnett will lead the project in cooperation with Statkraft.
