Statnett’s compliance programme (in norwegian) is a central element of our work on responsible business conduct, ethical business practices, and the prevention of misconduct and other improper conduct.

The programme is risk-based, built on best practice, and aligned with expectations from our owner and society at large. It includes systematic activities for continuous evaluation, training, and communication.

The programme focuses on regulations intended to protect society’s interests and is an important tool for safeguarding our integrity and maintaining public trust in Statnett.

Scope of the compliance programme

Our compliance programme covers four core areas:

  • Ethical business conduct
  • Conflicts of interest and impartiality
  • Economical crime and corporate misconduct
  • Third-party integrity

Code of Conduct

A key instrument in the compliance programme is our Code of Conduct. Our Code of Conduct implies that at Statnett we:

  • Integrate ethical conduct into all aspects of our operations
  • Comply with laws and regulations and act in accordance with our values and principles in everything we do
  • Seek advice on and openly discuss ethical dilemmas
  • Speak up when we observe questionable conduct and report breaches of Statnett’s ethical principles
  • Require suppliers and business partners to comply with ethical standards that correspond to our own

In addition to compliance with laws and regulations, Statnett’s Code of Conduct is based on international standards and principles that Statnett is committed to uphold, including the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization (ILO) core conventions.

Statnett is subject to requirements for the sustainable attainment of its objectives. Sustainability at Statnett means taking responsibility for people, society, nature, the environment, and the climate. Sustainability is a fundamental premise underlying all our ethical principles.

Ethics and Whistleblowing Committee

The Ethics and Whistleblowing Committee provides guidance to employees, managers, and other stakeholders in matters that may be considered questionable or improper. Such matters may include, for example, violations of the law or Statnett’s Code of Conduct, a poor working environment, harassment, unhealthy workplace culture, or other harmful activities. The committee reports directly to the President and CEO and to the Board of Directors of Statnett.

Anyone who has observed wrongdoing or misconduct committed by Statnett, its employees, management, or suppliers may contact and report to the committee.
