We are actively seeking to develop new technologies and solutions that support the realisation of Statnett’s strategic objectives:

  • Increase Utilisation of the Existing Grid and Power System: R&D efforts are primarily directed towards developing advanced methods and technologies for data-driven operations closer to operational limits, market solutions for flexibility, next-generation system protection, dynamic load limits, and advanced grid models. Increase capacity in the existing grid and in the power system.
  • Construct the Grid and Power System Faster and More Efficiently: Our R&D efforts are primarily directed towards developing cost-effective grid solutions for both onshore and offshore applications, with an Emphasizing sustainable and ecological design, as well as new methods and tools to streamline the planning and construction of the grid.
  • Enhance Resilience and Preparedness in Operations and Development: Our R&D efforts are primarily directed towards developing solutions for island operation, analysis of contingency options, logistics and emergency stockpiling, as well as solutions to improve cyber security for the reliable operation of the power system.

The bullet points below provide examples of relevant topics.

How to Submit Your Project Proposal

Research project ideas submitted should promote collaboration between stakeholders across academia, research institutions, and industry, so that together we can develop expertise and effective solutions for the sector. It is advantageous if the research proposal is eligible for support from public funding instruments.

Statnett will only consider R&D project proposals that meet the requirements of the Norwegian Public Procurement Act of June 17, 2016, no. 73 (LOA) and the Utilities Regulations of August 12, 2016, no. 975 (FYF), and that fall under the R&D exemption in FYF § 2-5.

Please send us the project proposal.
