Statnett has applied to build a new power line for the central grid from the Lysefjord to Nord-Jæren, and a new substation at Fagrafjell. At the same time, Statnett has withdrawn its application for a new power line from Seldalsheia to Stølaheia.
The new power line is planned to run from Lyse in Forsand, via Seldalsheia in Sandnes to Fagrafjell on the border between Sandnes and Time. An application has also been submitted for a new substation at Fagrafjell. The previous application for a corridor from Seldalsheia to Stølaheia is being withdrawn. The purpose of the project is to secure enough electricity for the people of southern Rogaland and facilitate further growth.
Plans for a link between Lyse and Stølaheia were suspended in 2015 after Statnett and Lyse Elnett decided to investigate an alternative route south of Sandnes. New technical and economic assessments show that this option is both more cost-effective and can be implemented in line with increased consumption.
