Statnett is planning substantial investments in the central grid during the coming years. This will be vital for maintaining security of supply in Norway. Statnett's investments will be more than NOK 6 billion this year. In August 2013, Statnett was granted licenses for new investments amounting to an additional NOK 8-10 billion. In the period 2013-2017, Statnett is planning to invest about NOK 40 billion, including new grid development, reinvestments, and related IT infrastructure. Statnett has substantial investment plans also extending beyond 2017. This is in line with the Grid Development Plan published in the autumn 2012.
Statnett's application includes the following parts:
- An equity injection of NOK 3.25 billion from its owner the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in the first quarter of 2014
- No dividend paid in 2014 (for Statnett's financial year 2013)
- Dividend policy reduced from 50% to 25% for the years 2015, 2016 and 2017 (for Statnett's financial years 2014, 2015 and 2016)
The applied equity injection will form the basis for Statnett to be able to operate the grid in a socio-economically efficient manner and to develop the grid as planned and expected by its owner.
