The goal

To study and describe an information technology-driven, decentralised grid structure where local renewable energy sources, such as solar cells, produce electricity and contribute to balance in both the transmission and distribution grids.

The project

In Smart Community Neighbourhoods (micro-grids), the project partners will implement several sub-projects to investigate issues related to managing a micro-grid, examine incentive schemes that encourage local producers to sell surplus power in their “neighbourhood”, describe possible solutions to secure user data, and consider the use of machine learning in the process of predicting the level of future power generation.
