The power situation
(11/12/2008)
See Statnett’s assessment of the power situation in different areas in Norway during this season. The assessment is based on statistical data concerning the inflow to the reservoirs within the various regions, reservoir levels, anticipated consumption and import capacity.

Virtually all electricity produced in Norway comes from hydroelectric power stations. The ability of these hydroelectric power stations to produce electricity varies greatly according to the precipitation from year to year. In years with high precipitation, far more electricity can be produced than will be used in Norway, while during dry years we are dependent on imports from our neighbouring countries.
