Statnett starts planning transformer station in Øystese

When granting Statnett a licence to construct a new power line between Sima in Eidfjord and Samnanger, the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy also requested that Statnett apply for a licence to construct a new transformer station in Øystese in Kvam municipality. The planning of the new station has now begun.

Statnett will now start the analyses necessary for the planning of the transformer station, to ensure optimum construction and location of the station. This type of transformer station will normally cover an area of 4 000 square metres. Statnett will therefore contact the local authorities and affected utility companies to establish the best solution possible. These are preparations for a licence application. Statnett expect to apply for a licence for the new transformer station in Øystese next year. The new station will be ready in 2014-2015 at the earliest.

The new transformer station will allow for demolition of the current 132 kV line between Nordheimsund and Samnanger.
