Statnett – one of Norway's top ten places to work
(3/15/2010)
Statnett ranked ninth out of a total of 120 companies participating in the giant working environment survey 'Great Place to Work' in the autumn of 2009. "We are very happy and proud that we achieved such a strong position the first time we participated in the survey," says HR manager Thor Johansen.
The Great Place to Work ranking is Norway's largest comparative working environment survey. More than 120 enterprises took part in selecting this year's best places to work in Norway. More than 10,000 Norwegian employees responded to the survey which forms the basis for the selection.
In the survey, employees respond to questions such as whether they have confidence in their management, whether they are proud of their workplace, and how highly they value the fellowship of their colleagues in the company.
"In an increasingly knowledge-based working life, where human capital and people are the most important resource, trust and confidence are more and more important," says Bjørn E. Hviding, partner in Great Place to Work in a press release.
High confidence
The survey measures employee satisfaction in five areas:
- Credibility
- Respect
- Fairness
- Pride
- Community
The three first areas provide a fundamental indication of the employees' confidence in their employer.
“It is gratifying to see that we rate a high score in these areas. It shows that we have enthusiastic, motivated employees, and that we have managed to build good relationships based on trust between the management, employee representatives and the employees themselves," says the HR manager.
Two of the surveyed areas; respect and community, match two of Statnett's own values.
Attractive employer
“I believe that our good results can be viewed in context with Statnett's corporate social responsibility, our ambitions for the future and the opportunities for professional development found in Statnett's many exciting projects," says Thor Johansen.
