Statnett – Q3 results

The Statnett Group reports net profit after tax for the third quarter of 2010 at NOK 344 million, compared with NOK -166 million for the same period of 2009. The Group’s net profit for the three first quarters of 2010 amounted to NOK 1 630 million, compared with NOK -365 million for the same period of 2009.

Revenues in the third quarter of 2010 were NOK 1 392 million compared with NOK 679 million in the third quarter of 2009. The increase is mainly due to high congestion revenues from price differences between price areas. Revenues exceeding the revenue cap will be returned back to the consumers through reduced tariffs. In the third quarter of 2010 higher revenue was NOK 241 million. Higher revenue for the first nine months of 2010 were NOK 1 550 million.
   

The Statnett Group invested for NOK 1 234 million during the three first quarters of 2010, compared to NOK 890 million during the first three quarters of 2009.

Outlook

Statnett’s activities in the immediate and near future will continue to be dominated by the high level of planning and implementation of investments.

 

The Minister of Petroleum and Energy has established four independent committees to assess cable alternatives at the project between Sima and Samnanger at Hardangerfjord. The decision was made after considerable controversy and discussion the summer of 2010. The conclusion is expected within 1. February 2011. Construction work has been initiated in Samnanger, at the section where overhead lines will be required in both the licensed overhead line alternative and a subsea cable alternative.
