Statnett – Q1 results
(5/21/2010)
The Statnett Group reports net profit for the first quarter of 2010 at NOK 840 million, compared with NOK -97 million for the same period of 2009.
Revenues in the first quarter of 2010 were NOK 2 279 million compared with NOK 752 million in the first quarter of 2009. The revenue increase is mainly due to a change in the regulatory regime accounting from 2010, set by the Norwegian Water and Energy Directorate (NVE). The new regime provides Statnett the opportunity to include new investments when setting grid tariffs, from the year of completion. Revenues in Q1 were also influenced by the cold winter with high electricity consumption and hence increased congestion revenue. Revenues exceeding the revenue cap will be returned back to the consumers through reduced tariffs.
The Statnett Group invested for NOK 209 million during the first three months of 2010, compared to NOK 191 million in the first quarter of 2009.
Outlook
Statnett’s activities in the immediate and near future will continue to be dominated by the high level of planning and implementation of investments. Planned investments for the period of 2010 - 2020 is totaling up to NOK 40 billion.
