Sima-Samnanger: Schedule for Statnett’s development project
(9/2/2010)
Oslo: Statnett will spend the autumn implementing measures that will ensure that the delay in the power line is minimal, regardless of which solutions and choice of route are chosen in February.
The measures that will be implemented this autumn concern both the overhead and sea cable alternative. The company will therefore stick to the schedule regardless of the final solution and choice of route.
”Statnett will act in accordance with whatever decision is made. We are open with regard to which solutions and routes that are chosen in the end. Our schedule for this autumn has been prepared to ensure that work can commence as quickly as possible once the final decisions have been made,” says Communications Director Tor Inge Akselsen.
Open process
It has still not been decided whether the power line will be constructed as an overhead line or as a sea cable. The Norwegian government has decided to re-examine the sea cable alternative. At the same time, the local authorities have been invited to discuss the final design of the approved route. In the meantime, the physical construction activities will be limited to those that are common for both the chosen line and a potential sea cable.
”We have decided to prepare a schedule and implement individual measures to ensure that the work on the power line is delayed as little as possible. The surveys/studies?? will factor in that different alternatives may arise,” Akselsen says.
Statnett will start construction work on the licensed route from Samnanger transformer station to Mødalen in Kvamskogen. This section will be the same for both an overhead line to Sima and an overhead line to a potential sea cable facility in Nordheimsund.
