NorNed 2 - A second interconnector between Norway and the Netherlands

Statnett has submitted a request to The Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) to accept a condensed planning process for a second cable between Norway and the Netherlands.
Statnett is preparing to install the cable together with the Dutch Transmission System Operator (TSO) TenneT.
A comprehensive concession/planning process were carried out prior to the first NorNed cable between Norway and then Netherlands. NorNed2 will be connected to the grid at Feda taking advantage of the existing NorNed infrastructure. A total expansion plan for the Feda area is currently being made to facilitate connections of the planned cable projects to Germany and NorNed2 as well as necessary grid reinforcements.
A condensed planning proposal is proposed by Statnett for NorNed2 as most of the relevant planning work has already been performed in connection with the preparation of other interconnects projects including the first NorNed cable.
