Looking forward to the conclusions
(9/2/2010)
Statnett is looking forward to the conclusions which the four government-appointed committees will reach regarding the cable alternative in Hardanger.
”We are pleased that the committees have embarked on their task of looking into alternative solutions for Sima-Samnanger and we look forward to the result,” says President and CEO Auke Lont.
The CEO is positive to the government’s initiative to appoint four committees to examine all aspects of the case. The framework for Statnett’s mandate has been set by the Norwegian Parliament, and the company will adhere to any changes in the mandate that may arise as a consequence of the political discussions.
”Statnett is responsible for security of supply in Norway. We have long known that Bergen needs increased capacity and that improving the electricity supply to Norway’s second largest city is a matter of urgency. Naturally, we will therefore make all our knowledge and expertise available to the committees in all areas they might require,” says Auke Lont.
In parallel with the four committees’ review of the Sima-Samnanger line, the government wishes to continue its work to improve the lines for which licences have already been granted.
“We will act in accordance with the process set by the Ministry in this case. This means that we will spend autumn implementing the measures we believe are necessary to ensure that the power connection can be established as quickly as possible, regardless of which solution is chosen,” says Auke Lont.
