Start low-power testing NorNed cable
(4/10/2008)
The repair operation of the NorNed cable was completed yesterday. The initial low power tests started today, 10th April 2008.
The repair operation has been facilitated by viable weather conditions over the last few days and the final joint was successfully completed last night. A high voltage test of the cable has been performed and the transmission tests have started.
The transmission test programme comprises a low power (LP) test sequence to validate the base functionality of the NorNed HVDC link and a high power (HP) test sequence to ensure a reliable infrastructure capable of handling stable and controlled 700 MW transmission. Depending on the test results in the coming days, the first High Power test is now scheduled for Monday April 14th.
The required low power tests will be secured via the balancing markets. For the High Power tests the programme will be placed on the day-ahead markets at APX and Nord Pool Spot.
The test programme during High Power testing will be made public the day before testing.
