NorNed - positive test results so far

Testing of the NorNed cable connection between Norway and the Netherlands has endured for one and a half weeks. The results so far are affirmative.

During the previous days power has been transmitted in both directions between the Netherlands and Norway, up to approximately 620 MW in direction of the Netherlands. The trials have included ramping of power, going from low to high power transmission and down again and change of power direction.

Both high and low power testing will be continued in the coming weeks. High power test schemes for levels from 100 MW up to 700 MW will be published on TenneT’s website and as urgent market message (UMM) to Nord Pool Spot (NPS).

Depending on the outcome of the remaining tests, Statnett and TenneT aim to make NorNed available for the market in the second week of May. TenneT and Statnett will provide regular updates on this information.
