Statnett co-ordinates supply and demand, and owns large sections of the main Norwegian power grid.

For apprentices

Would you like to work for one of Europe's leading transmission system operators? We need apprentices! With us you can get full-fledged vocational training that combines school and work.

Our facilities must always be operative. We therefore need to have skilled people who can maintain the transmission grid and transformer stations. To ensure recruitment to the electrical power engineering trade, we need apprentices.

We need people who like to work with technical systems and who enjoy working both outdoors and indoors. As an apprentice with us you will have challenging tasks in an exciting technological environment. We emphasise a good and stimulating work environment where each individual has a high degree of responsibility.

Why become an apprentice?

  • Training with pay
  • Exciting work in a good social and professional environment
  • Proven professional competence
  • PC and mobile phone during the apprenticeship
  • Loans and grants from the State Educational Loan Fund
  • Wages and working conditions in accordance with collective agreement
  • Good insurance, employee welfare measures, company cabins, etc.

Having a craft certificate will give you an edge in the job market. As a power supply fitter, you will also have the opportunity to return to school to pursue a degree in electric power engineering.

Power supply fitter apprentices must normally have completed the VG II electrical power programme at upper secondary school. An apprenticeship usually takes 2.5 years and concludes with a final examination.

The curriculum consists of two main subjects:

  • Transmission of energy
  • Operation, maintenance and control systems

Some theoretical training is included, usually at workshops or through the Internet. In most places Statnett partners with training offices to provide classes. You get time off to attend theory classes.

After taking your final examination, the apprenticeship contract is completed and both parties are free of further obligations. If there are vacancies, you can apply for a permanent job with Statnett. Because the power industry is constantly changing, Statnett is a very exciting place to work.

Available apprenticeships are normally advertised in local newspapers and on nav.no / finn.no. If you have questions about an apprenticeship with Statnett, please contact Ole Dahl at the HR Department, tel. +47 23 90 35 41.
