Statnett sponsors skating
(2/28/2011)
Skating forms part of the bedrock of Norwegian sports, and has long and proud traditions in the country. To Norwegians, Statnett plays a similar role in the power supply industry.
Skating and Statnett share a commitment to pure and environmentally friendly power transmission.
Statnett plays a key role in Norwegian society securing a reliable supply of electricity to the entire country. The national grid, for which Statnett is responsible, unites Norway. Consequently, it is important that the Norwegian people know who we are and what we do. Our cooperation with the Norwegian Skating Association provides us with ample opportunity to inform people of just that.
Moreover, the agreement helps the Norwegian Skating Association develop a new generation of skaters, just as Statnett will develop the next-generation main grid. Over the next 10-20 years, Statnett will invest about NOK 40 billion in developing and upgrading the Norwegian main power grid.
The increased publicity Statnett receives by supporting the Norwegian Skating Association will draw greater attention to the exciting career opportunities Statnett has to offer, particularly for candidates who would like to help improve the environment by transmitting the cleanest energy in the world to consumers.
We also make the most of our collaboration with some of the world's top skaters to provide our own employees with advice on how to keep fit. 50-60 per cent of our employees currently take an active part in some form of company sports.
